Job Description

As an established and well respected Industrial Design consultancy, CMD prides itself on designing and developing innovative solutions for a wide variety of projects. Our team lead their field in this challenging and rewarding sector.

We are seeking a Product Design Engineer who can integrate seamlessly into our team to manage our project implementation stages. This specifically refers to technical project requirements, prototyping and tooling and process management right through to final approval for manufacture.

It is important to note that almost all projects at CMD are sourced and managed externally, so a willingness to travel and an ability to communicate with remote project partners is a must. CMD has been in operation for over 15 years and is experiencing a sustained level of growth.

The office is located in Toowong and the environment is a vibrant, creative and exciting one.
Your responsibilities will include:

* Communicate with project stake holders (internally and externally)
* Taking a design concept and bringing it into a commercial reality
* Engage in "think tanks" to develop and refine practical solutions to product problems
* Perform engineering reviews and evaluations (virtual and physical)
* Develop technical documentation (manufacturing drawings, specifications, NCR's)
* Manage external FEA and prototyping activities
* Develop and run suitable testing and design validation methods
* Examine and develop tolerancing requirements for assemblies
* Project management and supplier liaison
* To review standards and regulations
* Identify and manage risk
* Identify opportunities to increase product and project efficiency
* Contribute to the professional environment at CMD positively

Skills and Capabilities:
* Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* A minimum of 3-5 years industry experience in establishing products
* Proficient user of Solidworks in 3D (this is a must have)
* A wide knowledge of manufacturing materials and processes
* Must be able to work in a team and autonomously
* Must be able to pick up and run with projects started or designed by others
* Professional use of MS office software is a must
* An intrinsic ability to indentify and overcome design and development obstacles
